Sustainability at Habitual Home

Thoughtfully Designed. Mindfully Made. Lasting for Years.

At Habitual Home, we believe beautiful interiors shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. While faux plants may not grow in soil, we’re deeply rooted in making sustainable choices from how we source materials to how we package your order.

Why Faux Can Be a Greener Choice

Real plants are beautiful but they come with hidden costs: constant watering, replacing dead plants, shipping from overseas growers, and using plastic nursery pots that often end up in landfill.

Our high-quality faux plants:

  • Last for years, reducing waste and the need for replacement.
  • Require zero water, soil, or pesticides, making them better for water conservation and indoor air quality.
  • Can be restyled or moved without the energy footprint of live plant care.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Long-Lasting Materials

We carefully select materials designed to stand the test of time. No fast-fading plastics or one-season wonders just premium, durable foliage that brings joy for years.

Thoughtful Packaging

We use minimal, recyclable packaging and we’re constantly testing ways to reduce excess fillers and single-use plastics. Our goal is a fully recyclable packaging system by 2026.

Small-Batch Ordering

We don’t mass produce. Our trees are ordered in small, intentional batches, reducing overproduction and the waste that comes with it.

Lower Carbon Footprint

Unlike fresh plants that require refrigeration, water, and frequent replacement, our faux trees are shipped once and enjoyed forever. Fewer deliveries = less CO₂.

Restyle, Reuse, Rehome

Styling a new space? Don’t toss your tree. Our customers regularly:

  • Reuse their faux plants seasonally
  • Restyle them with new pots or baskets
  • Gift them to friends or family
  • Sell or donate them when moving

Need help restyling? Visit our Styling Ideas page for tips.

Our Next Steps

We know we’re not perfect. Sustainability is a journey, and we’re committed to:

  • Reducing our import frequency to minimise emissions
  • Partnering with greener delivery options
  • Exploring partially recycled materials in future ranges
  • Launching a Tree Rehome Program in 2026 to keep faux trees out of landfill
